Fire Fighting

Fire season is Helicorp’s busiest time. Every day during the Australian summer, Helicorp’s fire fighting aircraft and crews are on 15-minute standby.

Helicorp is the Australian partner of Erickson Air-Crane, the Oregon-based company home to the signature orange Helitanker that is the most powerful fire fighting helicopter in the world. Elvis is one such Helitanker that has been fighting fires in Australia for many years.

Helicorp’s fleet of fire fighting helicopters includes the Bell 205, Bell 212, Bell 412 and Bell 206 helicopters. These aircraft are fitted to combat fires utilising tanks and fire buckets, and the Bell 206 Long Rangers sit 1000 feet above the fire to conduct air attack supervision, directing the traffic according to where the fire defence is required.
